Girl In Red shares new track ‘watch you sleep.’
Marie Ulven’s new track shows a quieter, more contemplative side to her sound.
Norwegian singer-songwriter Girl In Red - aka Marie Ulven - may have only began making her bedroom pop a little over a year ago, but she’s already come a long way in nailing down her sound. Soundtracking a sense of love, longing and teenage confusion, the 19-year-old has now followed up last year’s ‘Chapter 1’ EP and recent single ‘we fell in love in october’ with a new one, ‘watch you sleep.’, which shows a slower, more contemplative side to her sound.
Explaining the track, Marie shared: “I wrote watch you sleep in one sitting at 2 am. In my head I had this short film playing in my head of a memory I have. I just wrote what saw and felt. It was really weird and overwhelming. I literally cried while making this cause it made me so emotional. The song is really different from everything that’s out so far. This song shows a completely different side of me. That’s exciting and scary.”

Last week we caught Girl In Red’s set at ESNS and late last year we had a quick chat with her as part of our ‘Get To Know’ feature.
She’ll also be heading out on some European and US dates later this year - see them below.
