Glasgow’s Arches venue saved from closure
Glasgow City Council rejects the police order, deeming it “unlawful”

Glasgow’s Arches venue has been saved from closure, following a decision made by the Glasgow City Council licensing board.
The Herald Scotland reports that the council met today to revoke the club’s alcohol license and ruled in favour of the venue. Their decision was that the police’s closure was “unlawful” an with no instances of violence, therefore insufficient enough to force the permanent closure.
A police raid took place over the previous weekend, with the club shut down on Saturday 26th March due to drug and alcohol-related offences were recorded by police. The venue looked set to close permanently following the discovery of a woman found unconscious inside the live venue. In February 2014, an underage woman died at the Arches after a drugs overdose.
