The Strokes unveil Walton Goggins-starring video for ‘Going Shopping’
Shot on location in Tenerife, it’s inspired by the video for Paul Simon’s ‘You Can Call Me Al’.
Back in April, The Strokes returned in mighty fashion to announce their forthcoming album ‘Reality Awaits’ (out on 24th July via RCA Records) with lead single ‘Going Shopping’; now, they’ve finally unveiled a music video to accompany the track.
Paying homage to the classic visualiser for Paul Simon’s ‘You Can Call Me Al’ - which sees the singer star alongside Chevy Chase - for ‘Going Shopping’, Julian Casablancas and co. recruited actor Walton Goggins to feature in its surrealist fever dreamscape.
Shot on location in Tenerife (as Goggins was shooting a film in the Canary Islands when the band called), the ‘Going Shopping’ video was directed by longtime Strokes collaborator Johann Rashid, and takes aim squarely at consumerism and the circus of contemporary politics. Watch it for yourself here:
