Grand Pax makes mesmerising introduction on ‘Comet’

The new Blue Flowers signing is releasing her debut EP in July.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Grand Pax.

London-based newcomer Grand Pax made quite an impression on us when she played our Hello 2018 showcase at the capital’s Old Blue Last at the start of the year. “Velvety vocals rise and fall, backed by an almost trip-hoppy base and harmonies that prove simply irresistible,” we said at the time, and the promise is backed up on her debut track ‘Comet’.

Released on London label Blue Flowers (Nilüfer Yanya, Puma Blue, Westerman), ‘Comet’ is a brilliantly slinky debut offering, with a woozy blanket delicately placed over the track in a Warpaint-like nature, before a delectable vocal hook pierces its way through the clouds like a breath of fresh air.

‘Comet’ is the first preview of an upcoming debut EP, set to be released in July. It also comes complete with a minimal but mesmerising visual.
