Grimes releases video for Janelle Monáe-featuring ‘Venus Fly’
The stand-out ‘Art Angels’ track gets a futuristic visual.

Grimes has released the self-directed video for her ‘Art Angels’ stand-out track ‘Venus Fly’.
The Janelle Monáe-featuring banger - which, to quickly recap, is about The Godfather if he was a gender-bending, space-travelling vampire - has the kind of bonkers, futuristic visual you’d perhaps expect. Glittery eyebrows, flaming swords, and alternative universes; Grimes has the whole lot covered.
The slightly bad news is that the ‘Venus Fly’ video is a TIDAL exclusive. The better news is 1. you can preview it below 2. as Grimes points out on Twitter, the video wouldn’t exist at all without the financial backing of Jay-Z’s streaming service. So there you have it.
Also, the video’ll be on YouTube next Thursday, says Grimes.
“Sometimes it feels futile to be making art in this cruel and extreme political climate,” Grimes said of the video on Instagram. “But some of the brightest moments of the last few months for me and for a lot of you, i suspect, have come from seeing Janelle Monáe’s amazing and positive vision of the future, especially when we are being introduced to so many possible dystopian futures.”
Preview the video below, and watch in full on TIDAL.
