Grimes wrote a song for Rihanna, only for it to be rejected

Co-written with Blood Diamonds, the song’s set to get an airing at a New York show.

Claire Boucher aka Grimes has revealed that she’s set to play three new songs during her live comeback this weekend - one of these was originally written for Rihanna, only to be turned down.

The track was co-written alongside LA producer Blood Diamonds. “Its kinda different from regular grimes,” said Boucher - who’s expected to release her new album this year - in a tweet.

Her live return takes place at New York’s Governors Ball. In full, she tweeted to followers: “for those at gov ball, u should stick around for my final song because its special & top secret & new, actually im playin 3 new songs… but the last song is one me and @BLOOD_DIAMOND5 wrote for rihanna but they turned it down.”

Grimes writing for Rihanna shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Both are signed to Jay Z’s Roc Nation management company.

A new album - the follow-up to 2012’s ‘Visions’ - is expected to come out this September. She’s recently been posting in-the-studio photos on Instagram - the album has a provisional release date of 9th September.
