Grubs announce debut album, stream new song ‘Windwaker’
UK-trotting trio are putting out their first full-length this September.
Grubs are a trio consisting of Roxy Brennan (also of Joanna Gruesome, Towel and Two White Cranes), Owen Williams (also of Joanna Gruesome and Caramel) and former DIY scribe / short-shorts sporter Jake May. They owe a great deal of their existence to train travel - members live in Plymouth, Cardiff, Bristol, Brighton; you name a UK city, they’ve probably lived there - and that lends a hurried, unhinged quality to their scrappy, short-attention-spanned pop.
In between living their other lives, the trio have found time to put together a debut full-length. ‘It Must Be Grubs’ is coming out 11th September on Reeks of Effort and Tuff Enuff Records. It spans just eighteen minutes, led by the instant crush of ‘Windwaker’, which gets by on a simple sense of fun - don’t overthink it.
The record was mixed with Mark Jasper of Sound Savers - check out the tracklist below, plus artwork designed by Grace Denton.
