Sam Smith announces new album ‘Hazel Eyes’ with tender ballad ‘My Guy’
“This is a song that I feel I have been waiting a lifetime to write and sing,” they say of the lead single.

Sam Smith is back with the news that their fifth studio album will be entitled ‘Hazel Eyes’, and is due to arrive on 21st August via Capitol Records.
A love letter to their now-home of New York, the record follows Sam’s 2023 effort ‘Gloria’, and was recorded at the iconic Electric Lady Studios alongside a crack team of collaborators, including Feist and multi-instrumentalist/composer Shahzad Ismaily (Yoko Ono, Damien Rice).
Spanning 12 tracks, ‘Hazel Eyes’ promises to be a project with storytelling and requited love at its core, and has been introduced via the suitably romantic lead single ‘My Guy’ - a song that Sam has said “I feel I have been waiting a lifetime to write and sing.”
Continuing, they explain: “Written with beautiful friends on a summer’s day in New York, this one fell out of the sky. In this sometimes cold and distant world, I hope you can feel the love and the closeness of this recording. I tried to capture the glow and the warmth of love in this one, it makes me cry, maybe it will make you feel a little love too.”
Speaking about ‘Hazel Eyes’ as a whole, Sam has also reflected that “this album is very personal, and I feel I have deepened myself as an artist through the making of it, through being a producer on the record, to walking alongside this record from the start to the finish and pushing myself at every single turn.”
