Gruff Rhys unveils soundtrack cut ‘Set Fire To The Stars’

The singer has contributed his talents to the new biopic of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

Gruff Rhys looks to be quite the fan of multimedia endeavours. Not only did he recently release ‘American Interior’, an album, book and film-based project inspired by John Evans, a Welsh explorer who lived in the 18th Century and went searching for a lost tribe of Welsh-speaking Native Americans, but now he’s turning his hand to film soundtracks.

This time, the Super Furry Animals frontman has written the entire score for Elijah Wood-starring biopic ‘Set Fire To The Stars’. Based upon the life story of the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, Rhys’ new track shares its title with that of the film, as borrowed from a section of Thomas’ poem ‘Love In the Asylum’.

Have a listen to his somewhat jazz-infused offering below.

Looking ahead to 2015, Gruff Rhys also plans to head out around the UK on a full band tour next February. He’ll be making stops at:
