Neu Pick
Harriet find their own shape with ‘Bent’
California group’s new album ‘American Appetite’ is fast approaching.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Harriet.
Sincerity lines the seams of Harriet’s latest track, ‘Bent’. But that’s not achieved through earnest vocals and fluttering guitars - although they have these in spades. It’s in a sense of adventure. The California group aren’t the types to be rooted to one solid state, and on ‘Bent’ they’re more malleable than ever.
The track appears on new album ‘American Appetite’, due out 29th January on Harvest Records. “The in-between ain’t a place to live in,” runs the mantra, above ever-changing guitar lines. Whenever Harriet find a new route, they put everything into it. There’s no hesitation, no space for second guesses. It’s a remarkably brave track, and it’s premiering below on DIY, alongside a collection of videos showcasing the band’s own island-hopping adventures.
