New direction:
Return of the sweet prince Harry Styles!
One Direction’s golden boy is back, with a vaguely 70s nodding retro-ballad called ‘Sign of the Times’.
It has been clear for some time that One Direction’s paisley-loving sweet prince was planning a return, and last week, Harry Styles made it official. Sharing the news of his single ‘Sign of the Times’ - alongside artwork that closely resembles him being noshed off by a car salesman, while floating on a sunset-drenched ocean - it was clear that his comeback would be quite something to behold.‘Sign of the Times’ is, being honest, along the sort of lines we expected; a vaguely 70s nodding, space-flecked, Bowie-channelling jangle-ballad. It also goes on for quite a long time, and prompts quite a lot of dramatic fist-clenching. The song’s produced by Kanye West and Mark Ronson collaborator Jeff Bhasker, and there’s apparently a video - filmed in bonny Scotland, no less - on the way later this month. So far, so good, Harry. Listen to ‘Sign of the Times’ (which isn’t a Prince cover, fyi) below.
