Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor announces companion record to last year’s ‘Piano’
It features 11 new versions of tracks from the original album.

Last year, Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor released ‘Piano’, a collection that reinterpreted songs from his own career using only his own voice and, of course, piano.
Now he’s announced plans to release a new companion record, ‘Listen With(out) Piano’, which is out on 3rd March via Moshi Moshi. It features 11 new versions of tracks from the original record, which have been reworked by the likes of Brian DeGraw from Gang Gang Dance and Scritti Politti’s Green Gartside. As the title suggests, the tracks can be played on their own or at the same time as ‘Piano’ to give a whole new experience.
Unsure about how that works? Alexis has kindly released a four-minute video that demonstrates the two album intertwine, using Gartside’s version of ‘Repair Man’ as an example. Thanks for clearing that up Alexis!
Watch him explain how the hell ‘Listen With(out) Piano’ works below. Check out our interview with Alexis from last year here.
