Ibeyi announce debut EP, share ‘River’ video
French-Cuban twins Ibeyi release their Richard Russell-produced EP on XL this summer.
French-Cuban twin duo Ibeyi are streaming a video for their brand new track, ‘River’.
The submerged clip matches up with a simple, stark and percussive new number from Naomi and Lisa-Kainde Diaz, two musicians who recently inked a deal with XL Recordings.
‘River’ is taken from their debut ‘Oya’ EP, which was produced by XL head honcho Richard Russell. It’s out now digitally, and it’s being released as a 12” later this summer.
The release contains two tracks, ‘River’, and the previously unveiled ‘Oya’. There’s also a Dub version of ‘River’, which appears on the EP.
A little background on Ibeyi: They’re two twins who make music based on teachings from their father’s culture, Yoruba. ‘River’ is dedicated to ‘Oshun’, the river Goddess.
