Listen to the jangly ‘Simulation’ from London’s Ice Baths
Today’s Neu Pick is taken from a new EP, out in May.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Ice Baths.
London trio Ice Baths released a self-titled debut full of wiry, ’80s-indebted post-punk last year, and their new song is today’s Neu Pick.
While ‘Ice Baths’ recalled Protomartyr, Joy Division and Preoccupations in its taut, blackened punk, the new song is more jangly, with guitars clanging together with more harmony.
There’s still a darkness here though, and the track’s vocals and precise, thunderous percussion that closes it are more reminiscent of The National. It’s an intriguing step forward.
‘Simulation’ is taken from the band’s upcoming EP ‘Decadent Sprinter’, out on 3rd May via Blank Editions.
