IDLES share new video for ‘Great’
The Bristol band have offered up another slice of their forthcoming album ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’.
IDLES have offered up another taste of their forthcoming new album ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’ and, unsurprisingly, it’s a doozy.
Having already tackled immigration in the lyrics of ‘Danny Nedelko’ and toxic masculinity in their recently-released ‘Samaritans’, their latest offering ‘Great’ - a real black comedy rallying cry, if ever there was one - takes square aim at that little old thing called Brexit.
“Let us go forward with open minds and open hearts into that fuck off fire we’ve started,” says singer Joe Talbot, of the track. “No blame, no hate. Just love and a blue passport.” Sounds straight-forward enough.
The quintet have offered up a video for the track - as directed by Theo Watkins - which sees the band’s singer taking in some of the sights of our great country, as well as enjoying as overpriced bacon sarnie.
The band’s new album ‘Joy As An Act Of Resistance’ is released on 31st August via Partisan Records, and to celebrate, they’ll be hosting a special pop-up art exhibition - more info on that here.
Watch the video for ‘Great’ below, and check out the band’s upcoming live plans underneath the player.
