Jack White announces new documentary, ‘American Epic’ with Robert Redford and T Bone Burnett

Three-part documentary series is out in late 2015.

Jack White has announced details of a new documentary, titled ‘American Epic’, a collaboration with Robert Redford and T Bone Burnett. White, Burnett, and Redford have been confirmed as executive producers for ‘American Epic’, with Bernard MacMahon as the project’s director.

The three-part documentary series will be released in late 2015 via PBS in North America and BBC Arena in the UK. The series includes a feature film that follows “the trail of record company talent scouts from the late 1920s” recording musicians across a variety of genres.

The accompanying ‘The American Epic Sessions’ compilation features modern artists recording on the equipment used in the documentary, and includes tracks from Beck, Nas, The Alabama Shakes, Merle Haggard, Elton John, Taj Mahal, Willie Nelson, and more. The music will be released as a vinyl box-set in the future, issued by Jack White’s label Third Man Records.
