Jack White cancels Mexico shows after death of keyboardist, Ikey Owens
The musician had also performed with The Mars Volta and Mastodon.
Jack White has cancelled a series of Mexico tour dates after the death of keyboardist, Ikey Owens.
Owens was, according to reports, found dead in his hotel room on Tuesday (14th October), the night after performing alongside White and the rest of the band in Puebla, Mexico. There has been no confirmed cause of death.
A message confirming the news on both White’s website and that of his label Third Man said:
“It is with great sadness that we tell the world of the passing of the incredible musician Isaiah “Ikey” Owens. He will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans.
Ikey Owens was an astounding keyboard player in Jack White’s backing band. He also played with Mars Volta, Free Moral Agents, and many other projects.
Out of respect for Ikey, the remaining shows of the Jack White Tour in Mexico have been cancelled.
We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist.”
The remaining Mexican tour dates were yesterday in Guadalajara and tonight in Monterrey.
