Jack White features on a Topps baseball card
White has been honoured in a set for his beloved baseball team
Jack White has been immortalised by Topps in a baseball card series. The beaming White is featured in a set that will be on sale prior to the new season of Major League Baseball, according to local paper Detroit Free Press.
The photograph was taken last year during the Detroit Tigers’ ‘Christmas in July’ event - White was asked to throw the first pitch at his home town club, wearing a 1919 championship ring vintage and a Detroit Stars jersey, a baseball team who competed in the American Negro Leagues.
Not shy of alternative marketing and publicity, it could be another rare collectors’ item in years to come, alongside the Upholsterers (White’s first band) vinyl that have been found stitched to furniture in the Detroit area.
