Jack White is super rich, buys first ever Elvis vinyl, represses it for Record Store Day
Mysterious bidder for Elvis’ $300,000 record is revealed.
Back in January, the first ever vinyl pressing of Elvis’ music was auctioned off, the highest bidder (paying $300,000) being kept secret. Turns out, the owner of this record is Jack White, a man with cash to burn (and big plans for the release).
White’s announced a new Third Man Records pressing of ‘My Happiness’ and ‘That’s When Your Heartaches Begin’, out in time for Record Store Day on 18th April.
He revealed his involvement in the Elvis auction when speaking to Billboard. The original songs were recorded in July 1953 at Memphis Recording Service. According to fable, Elvis was paid an initial ¢4 for the recordings.
