Dog days: Jay Som ramps up the fuzz on ‘1 Billion Dogs’
Melina Duterte’s latest single is jam packed with distorted goodness.
San Franciscan Melina Duterte, better known as swooning indie singer-songwriter Jay Som, is getting ready to release her new album ‘Everybody Works’, the follow-up to last year’s ‘Turn Into’ on 10th March.
She’s now unveiled the slightly more feral cut ‘1 Billion Dogs’, a slice of vintage alt-rock that’s filled with fuzzy melodic goodness and enough wall-of-sound guitars at its climax to quickly exfoliate your face. It’s noisy, it’s full of distortion, it’s oodles of fun, and it’s about dogs! What more could you possibly want?
Fun fact: yes, there really are approximately one billion canines in the world today. That’s a heck of a lot of dogs.
