Everybody listens: Jay Som is streaming her debut album ‘Everybody Works’
It features ace singles ‘1 Billion Dogs’, ‘Baybee’, ‘The Bus Song’ and more!
Just can’t wait for the debut album by Jay Som and are cursing that its release is still a week away? Have no fear, as Melina Duterte is streaming the whole thing now via NPR!
Yep, ‘Everybody Works’, the Oakland native’s first LP proper after the collection ‘Turn Into’, is officially out next Friday, but this is a sneaky chance to hear it early. The record was made in a pretty tight three-week run of self-imposed isolation in October. While the tracks are never jarring, Melina takes the chance to experiment with different sounds and styles amongst the fuzz and slices of bedroom pop.
You only have to really listen to the variations in her recent singles – ‘Baybee’, ‘1 Billion Dogs’ and ‘The Bus Song’ – to realise that you’re in for a dynamic, shape-shifting set of tunes, and she doesn’t disappoint with the ten-track collection.
