Jimmy Whispers streams ‘Summer in Pain’ debut in full

Chicago oddball’s 23-minute blast of bonkers comes out next week.

Chicago newcomer Jimmy Whispers isn’t the type to shy away from putting himself under the spotlight. Debut ‘Summer in Pain’, streaming below, is the sound of one guy peering within his conscience, knocking a few times, before looking in and seeing what’s inside.

Musically he recalls some of Dave Tattersall’s simplicity-first musings for The Wave Pictures, with barely-there, cheap synth organs backing every bonkers verbal projection. Very little gets in the way of his stream of consciousness, which makes ‘Summer in Pain’ stick out like a sore thumb.

Out 23rd March on Field Mates Records, hear Jimmy Whispers’ debut below (via SPIN).
