Johnny Marr cancels US Tour

Former Smiths guitarist cites a “serious close family illness”.

Johnny Marr has cancelled the rest of his tour in the United States, stating on his website that he cannot perform the remainder of the dates cut to a “serious close family illness”.

Marr posted the news on his website, stating:

“I’m really disappointed to not be able to play the shows. The touring has been so enjoyable for me and the band and the audiences have been great everywhere. If it was about just me being unwell I would’ve found a way to continue as I did when I broke my hand earlier in the year, but to not be there for one of my family is not right. Thank you to everyone for the kind messages. See you soon. Johnny.”

Marr and his band were travelling North America in support of his recent album ‘Playland’.

The affected dates:

14 San Francisco, The Independent
15 San Francisco, The Independent
