Johnny Marr confirms “cathartic” next album ‘The Age Of Everything’
“It seemed to sum up the way I think a lot of people are feeling,” the guitar hero has said of the LP’s title.

Johnny Marr will release his fifth solo full-length, ‘The Age Of Everything’, on 2nd October via BMG. Written in London and road-tested across North America’s East Coast before the former Smiths guitarist laid it down in his beloved Manchester, the record promises to be his most “cathartic” work to date.
Spanning ten tracks - including its just-dropped lead single and opener, ‘Spin’ - ‘The Age Of Everything’ will act as a follow up to 2022’s ‘Fever Dream Pts 1-4’ (as well as last year’s ‘Look Out Live!’ live album), and encompasses the simultaneous uncertainty and excitement of unknown possibilities.
“The title came to me early in the process and became an inescapable idea,” he has reflected, speaking about the LP’s overarching concept. “It seemed to sum up the way I think a lot of people are feeling. It’s all encompassing, but it’s not necessarily a negative statement. There’s a sense of overwhelm in the culture brought about by technology, but looking at it with a different light, there could also be a sense of possibility.”
