Joy Crookes shares new track 'I Know You’d Kill'

Having already given us a few tastes of her new era over recent months, Joy Crookes has shared another brand new track, this time in the form of sultry number ‘I Know You’d Kill’.

Inspired by the trusting relationship she has with her manager, the inspiration for the song came to the singer when she was last at Glastonbury. ”’I Know You’d Kill’ is a song I wrote for my manager, Charlie, because I tripped balls at Glastonbury and believed someone in our team was bad news,” Joy explains, of how the concept came to the life. “I panicked so much I almost cried. In an effort to reassure me, she turns to me and goes “you know Nay (a friend of Joy’s) and I would kill for you”. My lack of sobriety, her presence and my trust in her made her look so literally shiny. I couldn’t even look at her because she was glittering.”

The track follows on from Joy’s recent offerings that include the Kano-featuring ‘Mathematics’ and her comeback single ‘Pass The Salt’, which includes an appearance from Vince Staples. They all follow on from her 2021 Mercury Prize-shortlisted debut ‘Skin’.

What’s more, Joy has recently confirmed she’ll be returning to Glastonbury Festival this June (and hopefully more inspo strikes there this year, too), and she’s set to play this year’s edition of BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool.
