Julia Jacklin announces fourth album 'The Gem' with lead single ‘Get Away From Me (I Think I’ll Love You Soon)’

Julia Jacklin is back with the news that her fourth studio album, ‘The Gem’, will be arriving on 25th September via 4AD.

The follow up to her 2022 effort ‘PRE PLEASURE’, the Aussie favourite’s next LP will be ten tracks in length, and was recorded entirely in Melbourne alongside Jacklin’s co-producer Robert Muinos.

Named after a pub that became her stomping ground after she moved to the Victoria city from Sydney, the record promises to interrogate what Julia has described as “the tension” between two conflicting desires; as she puts it: “I want to love and be loved, but I also want to be free”.

The product of a period of change for Julia, who’d left her former label and was in the market for a manager, ‘The Gem’ came to life over the course of a year in close-quarters converted accommodation above the eponymous pub itself. Of its title, she has noted that “[it] felt like a metaphor for the whole process, because a lot of it did feel like digging. I felt like I was doing it almost in the dark, just trusting I was going to find something.”
