Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and Miley Cyrus perform on SNL40

Anniversary edition of Saturday Night Live also features Taylor Swift and Win Butler.

Saturday Night Live celebrated its 40th anniversary this weekend with a mammoth, star-studded three and a half hour show.

Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon opened the show with a musical tribute to SNL’s most memorable sketches and catchphrases. Kanye West, after interrupting Matt Lauer on the red carpet and getting mocked during a Wayne’s World sketch, performed ‘Jesus Walks’ while laying on his back before standing up for a run through of ‘Only One’ and finally ‘Wolves’ alongside Sia and Vic Mensa.

Arcade Fire’s Win Butler introduced Miley Cyrus and her cover of Paul Simon’s ’50 Ways To Leave Your Lover’ while Taylor Swift appeared in long running sketch ‘The Californians’ doing a brilliant Californian accent.

The show also featured Sir Paul McCartney performing ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’ and Bill Murray covering the Jaws theme tune.
