Kasabian’s new album is based on a chair

The follow-up to ‘48:13’ is a concept album set entirely in IKEA. Maybe.

Kasabian's new album is based on a chair

Serge Pizzorno might make half a living off crackpot statements, but this new one might require a sit-down.

Speaking to Q, the Kasabian man revealed that he took inspiration from John Lennon when prepping the band’s new album. “Lennon said The Beatles’ version of rock & roll was their chair. So I thought ‘Wow, I want to make my version of that chair,’” he, er, explained? We’re a bit lost too.

More clearly, though, Serge also explained that the band are “going back to our guitar roots” on the follow-up to the slightly baffling ‘48:13’. Singer Tom Meighan agrees, for what it’s worth - ““Serge played me the demos and I was ‘Fucking hell!’” he says. “It’s nothing like ’48:13’. There’s no fucking interludes or any of that shit.”

“As good as ‘Let It Be’ – it’ll make you cry” is the Meighan verdict on new track ‘Put Your Life On It’. Another newbie, ‘Good Fight’, is “Unbelievable, like a David Bowie song.”

Modest as ever then, lads. Watch them debut the spiritual successor to ‘Let It Be’ at their recent Leciester hometown show below.
