Kelela has shared a new video for ‘LMK’

She’s presented in multiple guises as she navigates through a variety of clubs.

Last week, Kelela announced that she’d be releasing her debut album, ‘Take Me Apart’, on 6th October via Warp.

She announced the LP, the follow-up to her mixtape ‘Cut 4 Me’, with the track ‘LMK’, an icy yet bassy and strident track slice of hip hop-infused R&B. That track now has a new video, directed by Andrew Thomas Huang (a long-time collaborator with Björk). It’s a shifting, slightly surreal clip where Kelela is presented in numerous guises, moving through club-like environments like a boss despite the haze.

Speaking of the video, Huang said: “We wanted make a video that showcases the multiplicity of who Kelela is and who she has the potential to be. The video is essentially a grand unveiling featuring Kelela wearing different wigs and guises as she pushes through the club with her friends, ultimately revealing herself at the end of the video”.

He continued: “The message of this video is empowerment: it’s for the girls, for anyone whose heart has been trampled on and deserves to go out and feel good about themselves. It’s a call to action, demanding to be taken and to be quick about it. This is the reason why we love Kelela - she’s making herself vulnerable and kicking down doors in the process”.
