Kendrick Lamar on course for first UK #1 with ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’

Kendrick Lamar’s second album, ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ - released one week earlier than scheduled this Monday - is currently #1 in the Official Albums Chart midweeks.

Breaking the day streaming record (9.6 million plays) on the first day of release, it’s outselling Mark Knopfler’s ‘Tracker’ by 3,000 copies.

Marina and the Diamonds’ third album ‘FROOT’ is currently #6 in the charts, and Björk’s physical release of ‘Vulnicura’ sits at #10.

Other new entries include Modest Mouse’s ‘Strangers to Ourselves’ (#21), Sleeping With Sirens’ ‘Madness’ (#20), The Veronicas’ S/T LP (#29) and Tobias Jesso Jr.’s ‘Goon’ debut, at #35.

In the Official Singles Chart, Sam Smith and John Legend are on course for a second week at #1.
