Killer Mike speaks out against Ferguson injustices following St Louis speech
Run the Jewels member opens up in a new interview.
Yesterday, Killer Mike from Run the Jewels broke down on stage in front of a St Louis crowd, following a decision from a Ferguson grand jury to indict offer Darren Wilson for killing unarmed teenager Mike Brown.
In an impassioned speech, Killer Mike addressed the crowd extensively about the events, declaring “I don’t feel like a champion.”
Following the speech, Noisey have interviewed the rapper to discuss the recent injustices. In recent months, he’s been prominent in speaking out against the Ferguson controversy.
“When it was read and announced, I still cried like a baby in my wife’s arms. Nothing I could do to control the hopelessness that I felt, and that seeps,” he told Erin Sundermann in an extensive feature.
“If you’re a black man this confirms everything you’re told it was. That’s the thing. I maintain hope that this country can be what it’s supposed to be… But this shit just makes it harder and harder everyday. I just want to be the fuck out of this place. Why even stay here? If we’re this feared? Why even stay here?”
