Kim Deal shares Richard Ayoade-directed video for 'Big Ben Beat' • News • DIY Magazine

Kim Deal - of Pixies, The Breeders, and now solo fame - has unveiled a new video for 2024 single ‘Big Ben Beat’ directed by none other than comedian and actor Richard Ayoade.

Featured on her debut solo album ‘Nobody Loves You More’ (which DIY hailed as a record “able to disarm and surprise us, even after all these years”), ‘Big Ben Beat’ is an urgent injection of industrial guitars, and one of the LP’s most vital offerings.

Its new video, then, is a suitably compelling accompaniment: featuring Kim herself, alongside Savages drummer Fay Milton and Richard’s own family, it paints a striking portrait of complex interpersonal dynamics. Speaking on the experience of working with her, Richard has said: “Kim Deal has few equals – the starting point of her work is genius. And then it goes up from there.”
