King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard get dreamy on ‘Sleep Drifter’

Aussie psych-rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are apparently releasing five albums this year (yep, five, a whole handful), which sounds like it might be pretty tiring.

So it’s not too surprising that they’re already thinking about the sweet release of sleep on their new single from the amazingly titled ‘Flying Microtonal Banana’. ‘Sleep Drifter’ is an often hazy psych number mixed with classic Gizzard complex guitar licks, which give the misty melodies a slightly more unsettling aura. The result is a track that lingers in a strange grey area between dreamlike and nightmarish.

Also, the artwork is of a guy in a gas mask charming a snake out of a barrel of toxic waste with a guitar. Wonder how much cheese they had to eat before bed to think of that one…
