Kite Base are streaming their debut album ‘Latent Whispers’
Earlier this year, bass-led duo Kite Base – better known as the project of Savages’ Ayşe Hassan and Kendra Frost of post-punk band Blindness – would be releasing their debut album ‘Latent Whispers’. The LP is set to drop officially this week, but the whole album is now streaming, first appearing on CLRVYNT. As you might expect from the duo, it doesn’t hold back on the throbbing, pulsating bass, and it also has a dark, electronic stomp that borders on the post-punk. The nine-track collection also features the already-shared singles ‘Transition’, ‘Dadum’ and ‘Miracle Waves’. Back in 2015, the duo explained more about the band’s name and the creative force behind the project, saying: “One of the main starting points found in origami, a Kite Base is an opening move made with simple folds to generate a firm and fertile foundation for creativity. It can become whatever you want it to be- simple or complex- based on the imagination of the creator, inspiration and chance. To us, the ‘Kite’ also symbolises the generation of ideas and setting them free to evolve organically, embracing change. The ‘Base’ is the final ordering of these thoughts once they have been allowed to settle. It is a symbiotic relationship. A duo. Our working methodology.” Listen to ‘Latent Whispers’ below.
