Latitude Festival has announced this year’s headliners - The Maccabees, The National and New Order. The Maccabees will be proving they have the ‘Marks to Prove It’ over on the Obelisk Arena. It’s their first stint headlining a major UK festival, and it’s sure to be a landmark moment for the August 2015 DIY cover stars. They’re joined by The National, who’ve been hiding away in the studio working on the follow-up to 2013’s ‘Trouble Will Find Me’. This is set to be their only UK show of the year. Sunday night sees New Order topping the Obelisk Arena, following the release of ‘Music Complete’. The main stage will also feature performances from the almighty CHVRCHES, Aussie gem Courtney Barnett, plus M83, Father John Misty, Daughter, Chet Faker and John Grant. Over on the BBC Radio 6 Music Stage, this month’s cover star Grimes tops the Friday night, following the release of ‘Art Angels’. She’s joined by Kurt Vile, Of Monsters and Men, Miike Snow, Poliça, Frightened Rabbit, MØ, Oh Wonder, Rat Boy, Aurora, Mura Masa, Låpsley and Roots Manuva. Over on the Sunrise Arena (previously the iArena), Pantha du Prince will be presenting new album ‘The Triad’. There’s also Protomartyr, Suuns, Weaves, Drones Club, Anna Meredith, Black Mountain and MONEY. JUNGLE will play a DJ set at the Late Night Arena, which also features David Rodigan and Mike Skinner & Murkage. Speaking to DIY, The Maccabees’ Felix White tells us: “It feels like Latitude is gonna be the culmination of - not just this year, but - almost the entire fourteen years of our band. That’s not to put too much pressure on that particular moment, but it does kinda feel like, as I say, a bit of a conclusion up until this point for us. It feels kinda fantastic to be honest! I don’t really know how else to put it.”Full line-up below. Latitude 2016 tickets are available here.
