Leonard Cohen dies aged 82
The ‘Hallelujah’ legend passed away at his Los Angeles home.
Legendary Canadian songwriter Leonard Cohen has passed away, aged 82.
A statement posted to his Facebook page reads, “It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away. We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.”
Cohen’s son Adam, speaking to Rolling Stone, responded thus: “My father passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles with the knowledge that he had completed what he felt was one of his greatest records. He was writing up until his last moments with his unique brand of humor.”
Leonard Cohen will be remembered for his distinct, gruff vocal and dark humour - he leaves behind such hits as ‘Hallelujah’ (below), ‘Bird On The Wire’, ‘Suzanne’ and many more. He released his 14th album, ‘You Want It Darker’, just last month.
