Lip Critic share details of next album 'Theft World'; drop lead single 'Legs In A Snare'

Lip Critic have announced that they’ll be releasing another LP - the follow up to their 2024 Partisan debut ‘Hex Dealer’ - on 1st May, and have marked the occasion with a blistering new single, ‘Legs In A Snare’.

Merging jagged guitars and uncompromising drums with frontman Bret Kaser’s snarling vocals, the track is an urgent, uncanny exploration of obsession and addiction, balancing on a knife edge between love and violence.

‘Theft World’ as a whole, too, promises to be a dualistic, visceral affair - an album “about stealing” that, according to press materials, calls into question the very nature of art and its origins: “everything comes from somewhere, and whether you call it inspiration, reference, or outright theft depends on how honest you’re willing to be.”

Ostensibly born from the experience of a fan stealing Kaser’s identity and creating an elaborate mythology from ‘Hex Dealer”s tracks, the band decided to scrap their original plans for a new record and instead pursue this murkier line of thought. “‘Theft World’ is an ode to the power and pervasiveness of stealing,” they have explained. “It’s about taking something ugly and using it to make something cute. It’s about eating an absurd world and falling in love with it as you digest.”
