Listen to Fleet Foxes cover Nina Simone
They also played a track from ‘Crack-Up’ for Lauren Laverne.
Fleet Foxes released their long-awaited latest album ‘Crack-Up’ back in June and it was everything you’d expect from the band. Except on a much bigger, grander scale.
Quite recently they’ve been in the UK playing a couple of headline shows, and while they were doing that they popped into Lauren Laverne’s BBC Radio 6 Music show. They played a tune from ‘Crack-Up’ – ‘If You Need To, Keep Time On Me’ – but they also decided to take on a track by Nina Simone.
They tackled ‘Do What You Gotta Do’, which was written by Jimmy Webb and featured on her 1968 album ‘Nuff Said!’ It was also sampled by Kanye West on his track ‘Famous’. Robin Pecknold said about the song: I just love what she did to the melody. I love her melodic phrasing”.
Recently, Fleet Foxes have been announced for a few European festivals in 2018, including Roskilde and Mad Cool.
Listen to Fleet Foxes cover Nina Simone below, starting from the 13 minute mark.
