Listen: Fog Lake Announces New Album, Streams ‘It Was Never Enough’
Aaron Powell previews a gorgeous lead track from a new release on Orchid Tapes.

Aaron Powell is a musician based out of Newfoundland, Canada initially. He’s since released a series of Fog Lake EPs and albums, including the most recent ‘Holy Cross’ EP. He’s rendered recordings from 2008 ‘kinda shit’, but that’s all part and parcel of the process. With new song ‘It Was Never Enough’, high standards look to have fledged something special.
The track’s taken from a new album - ‘Virgo Indigo’ - on Orchid Tapes, and it loosely aligns itself with the breathlessly beautiful do-it-yourself aesthetic that defines Mutual Benefit’s recent breakthrough LP, ‘Love’s Crushing Diamond’. Sleepy organs sit up alongside Powell’s aching vocals, placed right at the top of the mix. Everything moves by so quickly in this song, which is fitting given the themes and ideas it’s based around.
Fog Lake, ‘It Was Never Enough’. ‘Virgo Indigo’ is out 4th February.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
