Listen: Jagwar Ma Share Jono’s ‘Wrong Mix’ Of Temples, ‘Shelter Song’
Temples have also remixed Jagwar Ma’s ‘Man I Need’ for a forthcoming split release.
Two future kings of psych have combined for a special release - Jagwar Ma and Temples are remixing each other’s tracks. A new Temples reinterpretation of the Aussie group’s ‘Man I Need’ will appear shortly - in the meantime, here’s a take from Jono Ma on the Kettering hair-specialists’ ‘Shelter Song’.
The original track’s defined by its direct, retro sheen. But Jono’s flipped everything upside-down here, applying a customary dance-centric approach that has the track spanning towards the six-minute mark. Beginning ambiguous and floaty, it eventually morphs into a monster.
This remix swap will be sold as a 1000-pressed 12″ picture disc for Record Store Day 2014.
