Listen: LAW Announces Debut EP, Streams ‘Haters’

Edinburgh’s Lauren Holt tours with Young Fathers after the release of her free, debut EP.

Lauren Holt was recently described by Edinburgh hip-hop skewing giants Young Fathers as one of the most exciting talents around, an artist pushing the boundaries of pop and then some.

She played one of Neu’s ‘How June Is Now’ shows last year, taking just a jukebox, a laptop and a spotlight with her on stage. ‘She looks positively iconic,’ remarked a report at the time.

LAW is a star in the making, and new song ‘Haters’ proves this. Based around one hazy sample, it builds and builds into a stratospheric, genre-meshing triumph. Lauren coos ‘don’t wanna press you boo / I like ya”, with vocals swerving between tremolo and assured, punchy declarations.

The ‘Haters and Gangsters’ EP is released on 3rd February as a free download.
