Listen: PJ Harvey Unveils New ‘Shaker Aamer’ Track
Protest song is devoted to the last remaining British detainee at Guantanamo Bay.

has released a new song titled and devoted to Guantanamo Bay detainee Shaker Aamer.
The track was published on The Guardian, recorded to highlight the continuing plight suffered by Aamar, the final British citizen to be held at the camp. Imprisoned for 11 years, despite being approved by released by President Bush in 2007, he is yet to receive trial or conviction.
Harvey’s song recounts Aamar’s suffering while on hunger strike at the camp. Aamar’s lawyer Clive Stafford Smith stated: ‘I know Shaker will be deeply moved by it, and I only hope that, with the support of the public, he will one day be able to listen to it in freedom.’
