Listen: Shabazz Palaces Members Announce Chimurenga Renaissance Album
Ishmael Butler-led project are streaming a new track, ‘The B.A.D Is So Good’.

There’s been a relative dearth of new material from most experimental hip-hop group going Shabazz Palaces, ever since their stunning ‘Black Up’ album from 2011.
Turns out head of Shabazz Ishmael ‘Palaceer Lazaro’ Butler is taking part in a new project, Chimurenga Renaissance. He’s joined by fellow member Tendai ‘Baba’ Maraire and Congolese talent Hussein Kalonji.
A new album, ‘riZe vadZimu riZe’, is set to feature guest spots from THEESatisfaction, and it’s released on 25th March in the US via Brick Lane.
Lead track ‘The B.A.D Is So Good’ is a suitably cloudy ode to getting high, spirited chants running alongside recognisable staples of Shabazz Palaces’ own, foot-stomping aesthetic. Listen below.
