Listen: The Flaming Lips And Bon Iver Collaborate On ‘Ashes In The Air’
The track appears on The Flaming Lips’ Record Store Day release ‘The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends’.

The Flaming Lips celebrate Record Store Day 2012 by releasing a series of collaborative tracks in an album titled ‘The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends’.
The first of these collaborations to surface is one with Bon Iver. ‘Ashes In The Air’ is a super-psychedelic number, combining Wayne Coyne and co.’s flashy futuristic outlook with Justin Vernon’s part-falsetto, part-autotuned vocals. It also features plenty of expletives, which may come as a surprise.
‘The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends’ will also feature the likes of Ke$ha, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Nick Cave, Yoko One, Edward Sharpe, Erykah Badu, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and several more. More details on the album can be found here.
The Flaming Lips have also recently been confirmed as headliners for this year’s Parklife Weekender, which will also feature the likes of Justice and Dizzee Rascal.
The event takes place on the 9th and 10th June in Platt Fields Park, Manchester.
