The Flaming Lips record Nick Cave covers album with young fan
‘Where The Viaduct Looms’ is out next month
The Flaming Lips have announced details of a new Nick Cave covers album they recorded with a young fan.
‘Where The Viaduct Looms’ sees the band team up with 13-year-old fan Nell Smith, and will come out on 25th October.
“It is always great to meet excited, young creative people,” Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne said of the collaboration, which came about after Nell attended multiple gigs of the band’s with her father. The album was then recorded remotely during the pandemic.
“With Nell we could see she is on a journey and thought it would be fun to join her for a while and see if we could get things going,” Coyne added. “It was a great way to connect with her and help harness her cool attitude to making music.”
The album is being previewed by a cover of ‘Girl In Amber’ – listen to that below.
