Listen to Mica Levi’s score for biopic Jackie
She won basically all the awards ever for her previous work on Under The Skin’s soundtrack.
Once upon a time Mica Levi used to be most famous for her use of vacuum cleaners with Micachu and The Shapes; these days she’s as well known for her award-winning film soundtracks. Her latest project is the score for upcoming political biopic Jackie, and the whole thing is now online.
Mica Levi won multiple gongs and awards nods last time she scored a film - her ‘Under The Skin’ soundtrack was nominated at the British Independent Film Awards and BAFTAs, and won a European Film Award, too. “I went to some pretty flashy dos,” Mica joked, talking to DIY last year.
“It’s definitely got Disney vibes in there I suppose,” said Mica Levi of her Jackie soundtrack, speaking to Dazed. “I didn’t write that much of it to the picture,” she added. “I saw some bits, but I’d just seen the most dramatic parts of the film. Short music videos, and I just wrote music that seemed a little airy and a bit cat-like. Suave, and a bit restrained as well.”
Jackie screened for the first time recently at Los Cabos International Film Festival. Directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín (No, The Club, Neruda), the film depicts the days surrounding U.S. president John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963. Natalie Portman stars as First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, with Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, and John Hurt also starring.
