Loyle Carner has aired a brand new single, ‘The Isle of Arran’.

Aired last night as a Hottest Record on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, the song builds from an old school sample into a driven, gutsy display of Loyle’s talents.

It’s named after a secluded island just outside of Scotland that Loyle’s grandad lived on. “I spent a lot of time there,” he told Annie Mac. “It’s a very long journey but it’s beautiful, very secluded. [The song] was the first time I managed to channel frustration into a body of work. This song to me sounds like home.”

Loyle was tight-lipped about whether this will appear on a debut full-length. He confirmed there’s “definitely” a new project in the works, and that it’ll be out “sooner than you think.”

“I’m hoping this song is the beginning of [an evolution],” he explained. “Things happen so slowly for me. It’s difficult to notice things have moved as far as they have.”
