M.I.A. previews new ‘Matahdatha’ project

M.I.A. has started previewing new material, in what’s thought to amount to an eventual new mixtape and short film.

Alongside short clips, M.I.A. also revealed an image scrawled with the words ‘Matahdatha’, hinting at a potential mixtape title.

She’s previously said the new mixtape will be 12 minutes long, made up of three new songs, and it’ll also be accompanied by a short film. In the release she described it as “a piece of work that has no boundaries and transitions,” and added that the whole new project is intended as “a journey around the planet.”
