Mabel shares debut track ‘Know Me Better’

Soulful newcomer Mabel has shared her debut track, ‘Know Me Better’. The daughter of Neneh Cherry, and Massive Attack’s producer Cameron McVey, the influence of both parents’ love of trip-hop, soul and jazz is clear in Mabel’s own music, but it also feels thoroughly forward-thinking. She’s a story-teller, and her debut cut captures the feeling of putting everything on the line.

“When you first get to know someone you don’t want to let that person see your weaknesses, but in a way you’ve not really shown them your whole self until they’ve seen the rough edges,” Mabel told The FADER, speaking about her debut track. “‘Know Me Better’ is about losing layers of pretension and control, and letting your guard down. It felt like the right track to come with first for so many different reasons, but I think the title kind of says it all: I would like people to get to know me and I’m hoping that will happen through my music.”
