Mac DeMarco’s shoes are selling for a lot of money online

Mac DeMarco is auctioning a pair of old, beat-up trainers for charity, and they’re raising a lot of money.

At the time of writing, an eBay auction for the Canadian’s “stinky pair” are going for over $11,000, with all proceeds going to the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, a charity that “empowers girls 8-18 through music education” and other activities.

A listing on the auction site says: “I’ve John Hancocked the left shoe. Will anyone buy an old stinky pair of shoes? I don’t know. Wait and see.

“I’ll probably throw some other crap in the box before shipping it, I dunno what,” he says in the listing, luring in higher offers. He also listed every show these shoes happened to grace in 2014, citing recent gigs at London Forum and Brighton’s Concorde 2, all the way back to a headline night at New York’s Terminal 5. These babies have travelled.

There’s five days left to auction on Mac DeMarco’s old shoes, at the time of writing.
